Privacy policy
Effective 19 September 2026
Who we are
JoinTour ("we", "us") is an app that helps travelers find each other, plan trips together and join city groups. It runs at jointour.in and as an Android app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how you can delete it.
Questions about this policy or your data go to support@jointour.in.
What we collect
Account details: your phone number or email address, and your password if you sign in with email. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them.
Your profile: the name, bio, date of birth, gender, home city and country, languages, interests and travel style you choose to add, and your profile photo.
Verification: if you choose to verify, a selfie is compared with your profile photo. The selfie is deleted as soon as it has been checked; we keep only whether the check passed.
What you create: trips and groups you host (including cover photos, meeting points, prices, itineraries, rules and tags), requests to join, messages and reactions in trip and group chats, places you add, and suggestions you send us.
Technical data: crash and error reports (device model, operating system, app version and what went wrong) and anonymous usage statistics about which pages are visited. Page addresses are stripped of account identifiers before they are recorded.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or payment details, and we do not take payments in the app.
Who can see what
Other signed-in travelers can see your name, photo, bio, age (not your date of birth), gender, home city and country, languages, interests, travel style, whether you are verified, when you joined, and how many trips you have hosted and joined.
Trips and groups you host, and the messages you send in them, are visible to the travelers they are meant for. A women-only trip is visible only to travelers whose profile says they are a woman. Gender is self-declared and not checked.
Your phone number, email address, date of birth and selfies are never shown to other travelers.
Why we use it
To run your account and sign you in; to show your profile, trips and groups to the travelers they are meant for; to verify that a profile belongs to a real person; to keep the app safe, including reviewing places, photos and reports of misuse; and to find and fix bugs.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Services that handle your data for us
Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage. Vercel hosts the website and records the anonymous usage statistics. Sentry receives crash and error reports. Twilio sends sign-in codes by text message. Google and Apple handle sign-in when you choose them. OpenStreetMap is asked to look up a place name when you add a place; only the name you typed is sent. When selfie verification is switched on, Amazon Web Services compares the selfie with your photo.
These providers process data only to provide their service to us, and may store it on servers outside your country.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and what you create until you delete your account. Selfies are deleted right after the check. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile, then Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, profile, photos, messages, reactions and join requests, and the trips and groups you host along with their chats. Places you added stay available to other travelers without your name.
If you can no longer sign in, visit jointour.in/delete-account or email support@jointour.in from the email address on your account (or tell us the phone number you signed up with), and we will delete it within 30 days.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app at any time. To get a copy of your data, correct something you cannot edit yourself, or object to how we use it, email support@jointour.in. We reply within 30 days.
Children
JoinTour is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date below, and tell you in the app before a change that affects how your data is used takes effect.
