Find travel buddies in any city

JoinTour is a free app for finding travel buddies. You join groups of travelers in the city you are visiting, plan day trips and outings together, and chat in real time. It works on the web today, and an Android app is awaiting review on Google Play.

Travelers confirm a phone number or email address, add a clear profile photo, and can take a live selfie while doing a random move such as smiling or turning their head. The selfie is compared with the profile photo automatically and deleted as soon as it has been checked, and the traveler then carries a verified badge. During the open alpha verification is optional so early travelers can look around first; it becomes required at the full launch.

Yes. Creating an account, joining city groups, planning trips and chatting are free.

Open the city, browse its groups, and join one that fits you: open groups let you in straight away, while approval groups let the owner see your profile first. You can also join a trip that someone has planned, or plan your own and choose who comes along.

Profiles show age, languages and interests, hosts approve who joins their trips, and women-only trips are visible and joinable only by travelers who identify as women. Travelers can verify themselves with a live selfie and carry a verified badge. Verification is optional during the open alpha, so check for the badge on a profile before you agree to meet; it becomes required at the full launch.

Travelers can use JoinTour anywhere. Popular destinations include Goa, Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Rishikesh, Manali, Bali, Bangkok, Tokyo, Kyoto, Dubai, Istanbul, Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, London and New York.

Yes. Every group and trip has an Invite button that creates a link you can share on WhatsApp, Instagram or anywhere else. Anyone who opens it sees what the group or trip is about and can sign up to join.
